My grandmother is and always has been the most faithful intercessor I’ve ever known. She has traveled as a missionary to 29 countries, all by herself. Whenever she moved from country to country, her goal was always to climb to the highest point and pray over the whole country. Some grandmothers’ golf, some knit scarves and some might sit in a recliner watching national news stations all day; but not mine. My adventurous and mountain climbing Mimi has been all across the map and has always been a woman devoted to prayer.
The best thing about my Mimi is that when she says she’ll pray for you, you can trust that she will actually do it. I’ve found great comfort in trying seasons in knowing that she was praying for me. We all appreciate (or at least we should) the comfort and encouragement of when somebody says they are praying for us. But did you know that Jesus prays for you too?
Jesus says this in Luke 22:31-32, “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail”.
Jesus is praying for me? Well this changes everything! Here is why it changes everything: Because Jesus is the Son of God we can always trust that He’s praying perfectly according to the will of God.
You’ve probably learned by now that life has its fair share of obstacles. Sometimes there are seasons that feel endless, pain that feels permanent, and conflict that looks unsolvable. What if we took a step back and realized that the God of the universe, the finisher of our faith, and the one seated at the right hand of God the Father is praying for us.
If any part of you wonders what Jesus is doing in the storm that you’re facing right now, rest assured that one of the many things He’s doing is praying for you.
