What's In A Name?
Not too long ago Tami and I visited Salt Lake City on a "whim." A friend had recommended it as a city with tremendous need for new churches, so we went to spy it out.
The first morning we ran from our hotel downtown up to Ensign Peak. On July 26, 1847 Brigham Young and other early members of Latter Day Saints climbed Ensign Peak and carefully planned how they would plot out their new city. As we ascended the peak and looked out on the city Tami said, "How cool is it that we're up in that same spot praying about planting a true church for Jesus in this city?"
We believe Ridgeline is the perfect name for a new church in Salt Lake for two reasons:
The first reason is that Salt Lake City is surrounded by some of the most beautiful mountains in the country. If you look up from virtually anywhere in Salt Lake, you see the mountain ridgeline.
The second reason we’re calling our church Ridgeline is because Isaiah 52:7 says, "How beautiful upon the MOUNTAINS are the feet of him who brings good news…” We want to join those beautiful feet upon the mountains, bringing the good news of Jesus to Salt Lake City.
